Thinner than I expected, but provides very good basic explanations of the physics behind remote sensing in a quick read. The 180-day ArcGIS license and online exercises were unexpected bonuses.

About the Author
Sheikh Muzaffer Ozak, who passed from the world in 1985, was born in Istanbul in 1916 into a Sufi family. He was educated by a succession of wise and learned teachers who instructed him in both traditional Islam and Sufism. He became Imam at a number of mosques, then left to run his bookshop in the famous Istanbul book market, which specialized in rare and antique books. He also became a prolific author in the Turkish language. For twenty years he was Sheikh (or spiritual teacher) of the Sufi order known as the Halveti-Jerrahis. Extensive travels took him, not only throughout the Middle East but also to the Balkan countries, Western Europe and the United States, where he founded a number of branches of the Halveti Jerrahi Order.

The late Sheik Muzaffer Ozak, who was the renowned spiritual leader of The Halveti-Jerrahi Order of sufi dervishes (mystic followers of Islam) in Istanbul, Turkey wrote the "Unveiling of Love: Sufism and the Remembrance of God" in a way that transforms and interprets the mystical understanding of Islam into an exciting and refreshing indulgence for beginners and veterans of mystical studies.

i red this book has very nice storys but in the chapter of the spiritual guide , it says even when u r dead the spititual guide will be with u to give u answer to munkar and nakir question, i was like what the hellllllll this is impossible , i whole books talks about cleansing urself and find the way which is correct but then it says u can cheat the angels r u seriousss u must be kidding, i highly think that is not true and the sheik wouldnt never had said that becasue in one of his other books it doesnt mention this subject. over all i think this one sentence who ever added it made me upset . i read all the hadith volumes and many sufi books. but this is realli sadd to c this sentence that the spititual guide will help u in ur grave , no one can help u exept allah host high most merciful most gracious

This book is the inspired classic of an enlightened master of the Sufi Way. Shaykh Muzaffer's visit to the West in the 1980's transformed the lives of literally thousands of people, of many different backgrounds, religions and spiritual paths.
Unveiling of Love is a vital teaching on Spiritual Love. It proves that a thoughtful approach to Islam may bring about love and holy ecstasy for its practitioners, not stifling moralism or rage against modernity. Sufism, as represented by this holy book, has got to be the wave of the future.

I'm so very glad he wrote this book

I'm so very glad he wrote this book. I'm not Italian, but descended from recent Irish Catholic immigrants from NY on my mom's side and trace my father's roots to the Virginia colonies. The difference between the Northern immigrant side and American side of things existed in my own house, so I recognize a few things. I know how immigrants seem to see things differently than the standard culture. My grandma was almost Nun-like in her Catholicism, but her opinions on the IRA or the wars in Ireland against the North would label her as a supporter of terror. It's crazy.....Anyway,

It seems to me the story of the "mafia" is in fact the story of immigration and assimilation of Sicilian culture into America. I actually find it relieving to know it started out as self preservation they learned from hardships in their homeland. It sucks how we still find it so easy to label some of these guys like Bonnano as evil. Immigrant life was amazingly hard and grouping together in clans like they did at home was probably the smartest thing any of them could do because of prejudice and bigotry of the times towards immigrants. It seems to me that Bonanno's entire Autobiography is a treatise of survival in the midst of certain doom in the New world for the immigrants of the time. Rather than despair, they worked this whole mafia thing out from their homeland. But as survival morphed into greed and blood lust it is apparent at least some of these Sicilian guys were aware of becoming victim to their series of catch 22's..........and how war (a culture of violence) can cause your discretion to be altered in ways that deteriorate into something completely obscene like what organized crime truly is. What these early immigrants suffered is a travesty upon our entire country. It will continue to be a true loss so long as the entire experience is bastardized into glorifying violence and "Goodfella", "Soprano", type thinking from which young descendants of immigrants are getting swept up in even today. Bonanno's book is like getting to read the intelligent side of the story from the group who lost. If you read between the lines here there's a lot to learn about immigration and what prejudice and hatred get you........from all angles

Interesting Reading

Not all that honest of a book, I suppose he might have been delusional enough to believe his own story when it was written. He completely paints himself as a great guy who donated tons of cash to the Church and other various causes. Let there be no foolishness here, he was a really bad guy.

However, his excellent history of the early days of The Mob are interesting and (AFAIK) accurate. Rudy Giuliani used this book to help roll up The Mob as it was then. Bonanno practically gave him everything he needed to see who did what and when. This book and the testimony of Special Agent Joseph D. Pistone (who worked for the Bonanno Family as Donnie Brasco) did a real number on the five families of New York as well as the families in other cities.

It is an engaging and interesting read, even though at the end his BS really becomes apparent. The earlier parts ring a lot more true, with all the violence and crime edited out. The later stuff seems a lot more contrived, more CYA than anything resembling the truth.

I enjoyed reading this autobiography quite a bit, but had to keep my BS Meter on at full power for the last parts... ;-)

A solid, alebeit sometimes slow, read!

I'm not going to get into a big long thing here. Two things you should know: Joe Bonanno is a liar and a coward. Read the book, it doesn't take long to figure this out. And two, this might be the closest and therefore most disturbing look into the psyche of a mafioso in publication right now. When I say disturbing, I don't mean gory or violent. For a "mafia" book, there is very little of that to be found which is obviously intentional. What I find most disturbing is that, even without violence or gore, it doesn't take long for you to hate Joe Bonanno as you see just how little honor this man possesses. The way he is able to rationalize his cowardice, the way Bonanno is able to make his lack of a spine or integrity seem like a principled set of values is nothing short of abhorrent. That's what makes this such a fascinating read. We know what happened. The truth of the historical and legal record bears all of this out and yet you get a complete retelling of these events with an innocent Joe Bonanno leading the charge as the man on the white horse out to save eroding values from the lack of moral direction found in the new world. It was hard to read to be honest at times because you just feel gross taking in this man's, this murderer's lies and distortions of truth. Good Introduction to the SDLC

Decent book on the SDLC. It has some flaws here and there (to be fair, systems design is not set in stone). Generally it is a useful introduction that leads you through the Analysis and Design of a Computer System.

It does not require you to know code and should be easy to understand even for someone who does not have a technical background.

I gave it 4 stars since it has a high price and sometimes confuses. It also tends to be really dry at points.

So, let the review begin :)
Pixi.JS is a rather small IT book of 200 pages, which you may read quite quickly, if you do not make the examples from the test code. However, this is an IT book, thus you should try to do the examples and even make them broader, if possible. So let's start.
What is the book about? It learns you to use the Pixi.js graphic rendering engine by example. It assumes some pre-knowledge on JS, as far as the js basics are not explained in the book, but this is also not what the book is all about. It is all about making nice things with Pixi.js, and for the author the nice things are games. As he mentions, if you can make games with PIXI.js, you can probably do anything with it (which is probably true for any programming language, by the way).
So, the book is really about the games. In 7 chapters, you learn how to use Pixi and some other libraries to make sprites, move and animate them, make shapes and make games. Which is pretty useful and enough to get a working game like this (the game is presented in chapter 7 of the book, see the second screenshot after the review).
I would like to pay special attention to the introduction, which is really well-written (I enjoyed it) and where you learn how to set the PIXI environment. In the next chapters, the author uses simple language to explain the ideas behind PIXI. Furthermore, the provided code is full of useful comments, which help you grasp his ideas. Last but not least, the whole code is freely available online at the site of Apress.Com, so you can take a look at it and decide yourself on whether to buy the book or not. Just one note - if you download the code, do not open it with Chrome, but with Firefox. Due to some reasons, Chrome did not want to run on my PC (probably because of some security levels or simply because I did not have a server installed).
I personally went deeper into PIXI and I have developed a small game with hitting boxes, with some libraries and ideas from the book. The game definitely can become better, but I enjoyed doing it and this is what matters at the end of the day! (check the first screenshot after the review).
The verdict:
If you are looking for a PIXI book, written in a great & easy language with examples - that's a good match! Enjoy it! :D
