Two final chapters treat perturbation and variational methods. An appendix lists properties of Rayleigh surface waves on single crystal substrates.

This is an awesome awesome book. The price is a bit high, but it's totally worth it. It is very clear and systematic on the field of elastic wave theory. It covers topics from elastic waves, E&M waves, isotropic and anisotropic medium, piezoelectric material, waveguides, resonators etc. This book is particularly fit for researchers working on areas related to elastic waves, micro-mechanical resonators etc.

An excellent text, clearly explaning acoustics in solids.

Auld has written a readable text on acoustics in a wide variety of isotropic and crystalline materials, including piezoelectric materials. Well balanced between the disparate fields of electrical engineering and engineering mechanics, he blends the subject together well, with a good set of examples and exercises.
